Total complaint counts are pre-computed from the CFPB raw complaint dataset by the PlainCredit ETL pipeline and rendered live from the companies table at request time. Companies are de-duplicated by canonical name; smaller subsidiaries appear as separate entries if they file under distinct legal entities. Read the full methodology →

Caveats and limitations

Complaints represent submitted grievances, not adjudicated outcomes; volumes are influenced by company size and consumer awareness. Large companies naturally accumulate higher volumes, this is not a measure of relative product quality. Per-customer complaint rates require normalization by customer count, which the CFPB does not publish at the company level.
